Conference dinner

The Forensic College is very excited to host this year’s symposium's dinner at the:

Yorkeys Knob Boating Club

Registration includes a two-course dinner at the Yorkeys Knob Boating Club on the evening of 7 September, commencing at 6.30pm. Drinks are available at bar prices. The dining room sits over the water and has commanding views of the Coral Sea, northern beaches, Double Island and as far as Cape Tribulation on a clear day.

There will be a presentation by a Cairns Queensland Police Service Inspector Don McKay on policing issues in north Queensland.

Inspector Don McKay

Inspector Don McKay joined the Queensland Police Service in 1987 as a cadet officer.  He has since worked in Townsville, Cairns, Yarrabah and Brisbane in a variety of general and specialist roles and currently holds a managerial position in Cairns District Office.  In 2007 he took on the role of Regional Mental Health Intervention Project Coordinator for the Far Northern police region and chaired the Operation Liaison Committee for the project until earlier this year.  His interests include business improvement, critical decision making and problem solving. When not working, he mountain bikes and plays hockey.  He has a Diploma in Public Safety and is currently studying a Masters in Professional Studies.

Topic: The Cairns Mental Health Intervention Project Operational Liaison Committee celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year.  The Committee remains one of the strongest in Queensland and the reason for this is the level of cooperation and collaboration across the partner agencies.  This discussion will reflect on the opportunities of working together and how bad it can turn out when we don’t.

Yorkeys Knob Boating Club is located at 25-29 Buckley Street, Yorkeys Knob, Qld, 4878.  The following link provides a map of the area and access details. http://www.ykbc.com.au

We hope you can join us for the celebration.
