2008

Mr Gary Khoo

Gary Khoo has been awarded the Rural and remote Psychologist of the Year Award for 2008. Gary worked within the APS office and worked intensively to assist the re-establishment of the Interest Group and  its development. He understood the special needs and challenges of rural psychology and his support was invaluable. Gary now lives in Singapore. 

2007

Bev Ernst

Bev was the initial recipient of a Rural and Remote Interest Group Award in 2007. She was honoured for her excellence in providing psychological support at the Beaconsfield Mine rescue in April 2006.  Bev is an independent practitioner and also holds a position within the APS office in relation to private practice for psychologists.

Dr. John Champness

John was a dedicated member of the Rural and Remote Interest Group Committee for many years and was a distinguished psychologist at a number of levels. John died suddenly in 2007, and he is honoured posthumously as an inspiration to rural psychology.
