Division of General Psychological Practice

Division of General Psychological Practice

Welcome to the Division of General Psychological Practice (DGPP).

The DGPP is comprised of APS members that have not joined a College and are registered to practice by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency. All eligible APS members are automatically members of the DGPP. The DGPP allows members to contribute their experiences, express concerns, give a direct voice and generally work with the APS to address challenges faced. Because of the breadth of psychology as a discipline, there is wide variation in the work, settings, interests, backgrounds and needs across the Division. The name ‘General Psychological Practice’ captures this wide range of diversity, experience and competency in the Division.

The DGPP Forum is made up of one representative from each State and Territory. The Forum meets face-to-face and via teleconference regularly. The Forum is jointly chaired by the President and the Executive Director to ensure direct communication to and from the APS Board. After each face-to-face meeting the Forum publishes a Communique for its members. The DGPP Communique allows members to stay up-to-date regarding the activities of the Forum and to keep members informed of its work.

As a APS DGPP Member, we encourage you to directly contact your State or Territory DGPP representative to share your experiences, opinions and information regarding the challenges and joys you face. Their contact details are in the “About Us” section.
