Branch Report 2005/6
The last part of 2005 was a busy one for Central Coast Branch members. The professional development subcommittee organised several very successful courses last year, culminating in November with Tim Hannan’s one day workshop on the use and interpretation of the WISC 1V. This was very well attended and we were pleased to welcome many public sector psychologists to this course.
We are very fortunate to have Ian Kilpatrick join us recently as Publicity Officer. Ian worked tirelessly during the latter part of 2005 and made some very useful radio and local press contacts on behalf of our local committee.
We are also fortunate to have continuing links to our local Division of General Practitioners through Kathryn Tiffen’s representation on our behalf.
Last November, it was our pleasure to welcome several new student APS members to our committee meeting and we look forward to their ongoing involvement and fresh approach to our Central Coast APS operations this year.
Our next meeting will be held on 2 May 2006 at Erina Meeting rooms (opposite library). Our next major professional development course will be on Interpersonal Psychotherapy to be conducted by Paul Rushton on the 21 and 22 May 2006. Course details will be available on this website shortly.
Further information on meeting arrangements or course information can be accessed by emailing Ros McIntosh (Chairperson) at [email protected].
Following the local Branch Annual General Meeting, a new committee has been elected, representing 149 APS Psychologists on the Central Coast.
We have held a number of excellent professional development activities in recent months, including a session on Beth Stone's "Pictured Feelings Instrument" as well as a session on the role of Psychologists in Workcover, addressed by Mary Hawkins, Director of Injury Management Branch.
The next scheduled P.D. event will be on the use and interpretation of the WISC 1V by Tim Hannan, likely to be held towards the end of September.(Details to be confirmed).
Our next meeting will be held on the 12 September at Gosford Education Centre, Gosford Hospital. For further details, please phone Ros McIntosh, Chairperson on 43856820.
