Terms of Reference

In relation to Child Sexual Abuse Issues and Psychology Interest Group

  1. To provide a forum for the sharing of psychological knowledge, skills and information about the causes, treatment and prevention of child sexual abuse, and research on related issues;
  2. To provide a forum for discussion, peer contact, support and information sharing for psychologists interested in psychological issues around child sexual abuse;
  3. To establish and contribute to partnerships, networks and coalitions that facilitate a cooperative and educational approach to enhancing psychological understanding about the causes, treatment and effects of child sexual abuse with a view to reducing its future incidence and harm to the community;
  4. To facilitate and promote national research and community education, and training opportunities for psychologists and other relevant professionals into the causes, treatment and prevention of child sexual abuse;
  5. To contribute to community education by the sharing and release of psychological information with the public and media with a view to:
    1. promote evidence-based psychological treatment, prevention and research in the community; and
    2. improve the support available to all persons involved in child sexual abuse.
