NSW North Coast

updates for December 2019

 APS North Coast Movie Night

Dear Members!

Come and join us on December 5th 2019 to view the light-hearted yet profound movie – Christopher Robin. A movie that follows the life of Christopher Robin a successful male struggling between his childhood traumas, his role as a husband and father and his desire for success. A wonderful movie to generate much psychological discussion on the roles we play, and the impact early childhood has on the choices we make in adulthood.

This is a free fun event funded by the NSW North Coast Committee, our way of saying thank you to all our members and their great contributions and support throughout the year!

Of course, there will be plenty of popcorn, food and other treats to support the celebration.

As a bonus you will be able to log 2 CPD points, generated by discussion during and after the screening of the movie.

Learning outcomes include:

Childhood trauma and impact on mental health
Impact of loss and grief on emotional development and attachment
Impact of social pressures and the role of parenting in our current times

If you would like to attend please register via the link below

If you are able to attend we look forward to seeing you there.

Professional Practice Issues: Clinical governance and business excellence – tools for success in Private Practice

 Register here

About the presenter - Kaye Frankcom

GAICD, B.A, B.S.W, Grad Dip. Counselling. Psych., Master Clinical Psychology, Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management)

Clinical Governance has in the past been a term that applied to hospitals and large organisations but more recently has become a necessary pre-requisite for psychology private practices to establish credibility, be able to tender for work and in my opinion is necessary to take your business to the next level and to attain business success. This workshop will address practical aspects of governance, practice standards and how to use these to develop your private practice whether it be as an individual practitioner or in a group practice context.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • · Understand terms such as clinical governance, continuous improvement, quality assurance and patient centred care and how these apply to private psychology practice
  • · Review the government initiatives and reforms that impact on psychology private practice and develop how to respond to these changes in the private practice landscape

· Commence the development of a plan to implement clinical governance in your practice and a communication and culture change strategy that fits your context.

Come and meet our CEO Ms Francis Mirabelli

Francis will be joining us for the evening and providing an update on Psychology and the “state of the nation”. I am delighted that Francis can attend our Branch event and look forward to meeting her, and having the opportunity to ask questions, and learning of Francis’s vision for the direction of our organisation moving forward.
